Whoa, that video, that music made me surpisingly emotional.

-Ahem-

I gotta go. There's something in my eye.

Ok, thank you Speegle, because a friend of mine called it SAPPY. Needless to say, he owns no typewriters.

No Mikes right, perfect music I thought. Seriously!

Did you use Imovie? Thats how I make my videos lol. Just wondering.

You're my new favorite pornographer.

I did use iMovie, I haven't used it in years and the interface TOTALLY changed from the old version I'm used to, so this video is edited like crap, as I did not know what I was doing.

The song is by the Innocence Mission and the lyrics are:

Old days, don't come to find me,
the sun is just about to climb up over there.
While my heart is sinking I do not want my voice
to go out into the air.
Did you leave the darkness without me?
You're always miles ahead.
And you're standing in tomorrow on the runway.

Oh be the music in my head,
the air around my bed, oh be my rest.
Replace the small disgraces of
the times and places that I never really left.
Did you leave the darkness without me?
You're always miles ahead.
And you're standing in tomorrow on the runway.

Oh I want to fly, fly forward into the light,
be alive, to come alive,
on the leaf-bright Friday drive,
sudden horses at the red light,
turn around, see clearer ways to go now.

Olivander, you are not the first person to call that footage prOn.

Wonderful! And the rain makes it all the more enchanting!
And you've added our mutual favorites, The Innocence Mission.

The store reminds me a lot of Cambridge Typewriter- even the storefront. (see: http://laviegraphite.blogspot.com/2009/03/olympians.html -also with the I.M. )

Joyeuse Fete des Machines-à écrire !

Oh I am so going to check out more music by the Innocence Mission.

Speculator: Being curious, I entered the phrase at the bottom of your comment into Babelfish, and got the following: "Merry Festival of Machine-with writing," which I think is awesome.

Fun list of verification words I have seen today are...

Remockl: to chuckle derisively...again.

Ding: Ding! Perfect for Typewriter Day!

Lubings: ...ew.

Yea I was going to say, Cambridge Typewriter CO. It reminded me so much of it!!! Took the words out of my mouth Spec. It makes me really want to find a place like that again out here somewhere in Houston.

Even the key configuration is different ("AZERTY")

Just wow...I was utterly captivated the whole way through. I have GOT to get over my fear of driving in strange places and get down there...with the SG-1 in tow, if I can possibly manage it.

I am in awe....

And I must look up that music group, too. Lovely.

Wonderful Typewriter Day post!

Do yourself a favor and check out

http://www.debarth.info/hermesReplacementPlatenKnobs.htm

They manufacture replacement platen knobs for Hermes 3000 machines. They look pretty good, too.

Yeah, this place is like Cambridge Typewriter. Instead of the adult video store, I go there. ;-)

Wow! - just saw the video. I want to get on a plane with $5000 in cash and fly back with about 12-15 machines.

My niece and her husband are looking to relocate to Portland. This gives me an excuse for a visit.

What I liked most about that video is that there were no boring talking parts to fast-forward through. Payoff for the whole 4 minutes.

Very, very well done.

typo - Going to have to get those replacement knobs or I won't have any flesh left on my knuckles (they always get scraped trying to use this damned knobless typewriter).

DM - The reason for the music was precisely that-- covering my heinous speaking voice. (I talk very fast, which people never fail to rather rudely comment on, and I'd rather just drown out the whole spectacle with some soothing music.)
