Yay! Welcome back. Did you have fun?
Thanks! I did. I was in Austin, TX.
I read the article, and the thought of perfectly good typewriters sitting in landfills makes me want to cry.
Are there people who have been brave enough to go sift through 20-year old trash in search of them, I wonder?
One of my typewriters I found on the curb, waiting for the trash pick-up. An Olympia portable with that brushed-metal finish reminded me of the machine my mom typed her dissertation on. So I brought it home. A thing of beauty.
Usually I only bring home books that way, from curbside. Particularly if it is about to rain. That is how my garage got its set of encyclopedias.
